Community Engagement Initiative
Bringing people together. Creating a vision. Making quality education for all a reality.
Over the past two years, nearly 1,000 citizens have shared their dreams, identified obstacles that must be overcome and presented ideas for making progress in strengthening our community and reconnecting our public to our public schools. These conversations led to citizens’ drafting what we call Our Community Agreement (En Español). We encourage you to spend some time here to learn more about Count Me In!, what’s happening and how you can join this effort.
The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools launched the Count Me In! initiative in 2004. It’s led by an independent Steering Committee comprised of citizens, community leaders and educators. The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation developed the community engagement process and is serving as a partner in this movement.
Simply put, Count Me In! is about you and me and making hopes and possibilities for our community and public schools in Orange County a reality. It’s a long-term grassroots citizen engagement initiative that is mobilizing the people of Orange County to bring together our collective voices to ensure that decisions made for our schools and community reflect our visions and hopes. It’s about motivating us to get involved and make a difference and make things better for our schools and our community.
